A BIT ABOUT THERAPY WITH ME

Hello, Dr. Thomas DiBlasi here. Do you find that your emotions, such as anger or anxiety, get the best of you? Do you find that you have thoughts that you just can’t get out of your head no matter how hard you try? Do you find that you respond to these emotions or thoughts in an unhelpful way? This is very common with anger, OCD, and anxiety. It can feel as if these emotions or thoughts are controlling your life. But, there is hope! Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is seen as the most effective treatment for these issues. I want to help you regain control of your life and live the life you want to live, not the life your emotions or OCD tell you to live.

I have extensive training in several therapies, one of which is CBT from the renowned Beck Institute. The goal of CBT is to help you challenge your thoughts to make you feel and live a better life. I also specialize in exposure and response prevention (ExRP), the front-line approach to OCD. I am deeply appreciative to have received advanced training in Motivational Interviewing (MI) from the prestigious Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers, which helps people feel motivated and commit to change. As a college professor, I am constantly staying on top of new research, teaching, and publishing. I think it is important that I am always learning so that I can provide you with the best treatment. 

I think it takes a lot of courage to come in for therapy, and I want to be there to support you through it. My goal for you is to help you live your life the way you want to, not the way anger, OCD, or the like tells you to. Although therapy can be hard work, I am confident we can get through it, together.
